Install on a dedicated Ubuntu server, then open Software House in your browser.

Version 0.2.56Ubuntu 24.04 · x86-64Download options →

Prepare a dedicated server

Use a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 x86-64 virtual machine with 4 vCPU, 8 GiB RAM and 200 GiB disk, including at least 160 GiB free. Allow inbound ports 80 and 443, plus SSH from your address.

Point the domain you want to use for Software House and its wildcard at the server. For a direct connection, use A records with the server’s IPv4 address.

A reverse proxy can stay enabled if it routes both names to the server over HTTPS, preserves the original hostname and allows certificate validation, streaming and uploads.

Run the installer

Run these commands on your server and enter your Software House domain when prompted.

Install on your server
read -r -p "Software House domain: " software_house_domain &&
curl --proto '=https' --proto-redir '=https' --fail --show-error --location https://downloads.blazingbanana.com/software-house/install.sh -o install.sh &&
sudo bash install.sh --domain "$software_house_domain"

Enter your email address and confirm that this is a dedicated server. The installer sets up Software House and HTTPS. It can restart and continue if a server update requires it.

Log in

When the installer says Software House is ready, open your domain. Read your initial password on the server:

Read your initial password
sudo cat /var/lib/software-house-installer/state/initial-owner-password

Sign in with the email you entered. Follow the walkthrough in the application to connect your AI provider and begin your first project.

If installation is interrupted, run the same install command again.

Other environments

For an existing Kubernetes cluster or a managed cluster on Azure or DigitalOcean, read the advanced installation guidance. An administrator must check the storage and networking against the release requirements before using those routes.
