Installation options
- Existing cluster
-
Install into a fresh, dedicated Kubernetes environment with a
manifest. Instructions are in
docs/portable-kubernetes-installation.md. - Cloud provisioning
-
Create a cluster on Azure or DigitalOcean from a
cloud.jsonconfiguration. Instructions are indocs/cloud-kubernetes-installation.md.
A dedicated Ubuntu server can use the standard installer instead.
Prepare the release
Download and verify the current signed release. The package includes the installer and its versioned documentation. Keep configuration, credential files and installation state in a private directory outside the extracted release.
Storage requirements
The current release requires enforced storage limits for project and
application data. Read the storage requirements in docs/operations.md. The managed NFS defaults in the cloud
provisioner do not meet those checks.
Email us about your cluster and storage before provisioning a managed environment.
Validate your configuration
Use the installer’s validation command with your protected configuration.
./install.sh kubernetes --config /protected/house/manifest.json --validate ./install.sh cloud --config /protected/house/cloud.json --validate The validation command checks the configuration file. Platform checks run during installation; the installer tells you if anything needs to be fixed.
Retries and updates
Use the original installation ID, configuration and state directory when retrying or updating. Follow the maintenance instructions in your release for an existing environment.
